If you're anything like me, you are super stoked for all the snow that is about to be DUMPED upon us here in Central Oregon, FINALLY!
If you're not a fan of winter, you might be worried about how you're going to keep up any form of movement through the next week, and already feeling guilty about missing workouts...
Never fear, here are some tips on how to keep moving from your friendly neighborhood health coach and snow-lover...
First, reset your expectations. Weather challenges make workout consistency difficult. It's ok to change your usual workout time, shorten your workout, or do a completely different activity. (Shoveling, anyone?) All movement counts. Moving regularly is more important than doing your workouts perfectly.
Next, don’t let cold be your nemesis when it can be defeated by good gear! Add traction to your walks with YakTrax. Invest in mittens and hand warmers for chilly fingers.
Third, workouts are better with friends! Make an agreement with a close-by friend to get outside regularly and reward yourselves with a warm beverage afterwards!
Finally, consider moving indoors. Local community centers and gyms have an abundance of interesting programming right now! Take the opportunity to try a new class this season – maybe you’ll find a new movement passion that keeps you moving year round!
